September 2009

I first began livecasting for the University of Rhode Island in September of 2009. That Fall semester I filmed 14 events for the Honors Program as part of their Demystifying India colloquium series. The weekly events averaged an online attendance of 300 people while the archived videos collected over 4,000 hits on YouTube. During that same semester, I had the privilage of coving Diversity Week, the Big Thinkers Series (Boston & New York), and the Pharmacy Groundbreaking ceremony.

In February of 2010 I started filming the Vetlesen Lecture Series, “People and Planet: Global Environmental Change.” The series’ second guest, Naomi Oreskes, provided me with my most successful livecast to date. Naomi’s lecture gained 2,500 hits in its first week. Within the first 6 months of using this technology at URI, I gained over 8,000 YouTube hits for the university.
